কুয়াশাচ্ছন্ন ভোরের গর্ভে ঘুমিয়ে থাকা
একটি মিষ্টি সকাল
সূর্যের কপালে চুমু খেয়ে বলে-
সময়ের চাহিদা মিটাতে লকলকিয়ে
বেড়ে উঠেছে কবির কাব্যসুধায় উজ্জীবিত পৌরুষ
মোড়াইল গ্রামের কূলীন মাটির বুকে
গজিয়ে ওঠা নাইটকুইনের গর্ভজাত ফুটন্ত কলি
সময়ের প্রবহমান স্রোতে ভাসতে ভাসতে এখন
সপ্ত-আকাশ আলোকিত রূপালী জোছনার আভায়
কাব্যিক রূপকল্পের স্বচ্ছ জলের চকমকে হাসি
ধ্যানের নিমগ্নতার বাণীবিন্যাসে
ভাবনার রসাতলে নিমজ্জিত হই
বাঙালি বধূর কাঁখের কলসে দুদোল্য দোলার দোলায়িত ছন্দে

রূপ-লাবণ্যের জৌলুস ধ্যানে নিমগ্ন আল মাহমুদ
নৈশভোজের আমন্ত্রিত অতিথি
চিত্রকল্পের যুতসই উদীয়মান সূর্যের রক্তিম আভা
আলো-আঁধারের লুকোচুরি খেলায় হারিয়ে খোঁজা অলংকার
নন্দনতত্ত্বের তাত্ত্বিকতার বাগান তো নয়
রণাঙ্গনের মুক্তির সংগ্রাম মিথের ব্যবহারে
যে ফুল ফুটিয়েছো তুমি স্বাধীন বাংলাদেশ
আকাশে বাতাসে ছড়িয়ে পড়া মুক্তির সংগ্রাম
কাব্যশৈলীর শব্দ বিন্যাসে উজ্জ্বল
কলকল ছলছল মনোবল তোমার
ন্যায়ের ঝাণ্ডা হাতে যৌবনে ছুটে চলা প্রতিবাদী কন্ঠ
মানব মুক্তির মিছিলে গর্জে ওঠা ‘আসাদের শার্ট’
দিগন্তে হেলে পড়া নীল আকাশের
বুকের জমিনে এঁকেছিলে লাল-সবুজের পতাকা
তুমিই বাংলাদেশ
বর্ণমালার বর্ণিল শোভাযাত্রায় শুনি
তোমারই জয়ধ্বনি
লক্ষ কলমসৈনিকের বুকের ভেতর
ধুকপুক করে বয়ে চলা হৃদয়ের স্পন্দন তুমি
কলমের যাদুর স্পর্শে পূর্ণতা পেয়েছে সাহিত্য ভান্ডার
তোমার দেহের রক্তকনিকা থেকে সঞ্চারিত
প্রতিটি শব্দ চৈতন্যের ‘সোনালি কাবিন’
ভাবনার প্রতিটি স্তরে বপন করা
দেশাত্মবোধের চাড়া গজিয়ে
বাংলার মা-মাটির উর্বর জমিনে বিস্তৃত এই কৃষি-প্রান্তর
কাব্যকলার অবারিত ধান-কাউনের মাঠ
কখনো উপমা অলংকারের সুষমায় সজ্জিত ‘বখতিয়ারের ঘোড়া’
তুমি ভাস্মর চির অম্লান
ন্যায়ের প্রতিকৃতি তুমি কবি
তোমার মস্তিষ্ক শব্দচাষের এক উর্বর জমিন
পরলোকে তুমি মরমী কবি
রাতের আঁধার-কাটা আলোর বিচ্ছুরণ
কাব্যসুধায় আতর-লোবানের সুমিষ্ট ঘ্রাণ
অমরত্বের আলপথে হাঁটা কবি- তুমি ‘আল মাহমুদ’।
Prince of Poet

One sweet morning was sleeping
In the womb of foggy dawn,
Kisses the forehead of sun and says-
To meet the demand of time
Has grown strong the manhood
Through poetic lyrics of the poet.
In the aristocrat soil of Morail village
Bloomed one night-queen bud,
Floating through the waves of time…
Now, in the silvery glare of moonlit sky
In transparent water, the glittering smile
of the poetic metaphor.
I dive deep in the thoughts of
Composition of meditated resonance
Concerted with the rhythm of water-jar
on the waist of a Bengali damsel,
Resonated in the bounty and glamour
Of selected verses of Bengali poetry,
Al-Mahmud is the guest of honor.
He is the golden rays of rising sun
Harmonized with the metaphor,
Like looking for the ornament lost in
‘cat and mouse’ game of light and dark.
Not a garden with illustration of beauty
Struggle of liberation in the war-field,
You nurtured a flower- free Bangladesh
Spread war of freedom in air and sky.
Brilliant in the poetic composition
You possess spirit like the fountains,
Rebel voice sprint with the flag of justice
Shouting in the freedom procession
For humanity is Asad’s shirt.
You drew the red-green flag in the chest
Of blue sky leaning on the horizon-
You are Bangladesh.
In the colorful parade of alphabet
I hear the chorus of your victory,
In the hearts of millions of poet
You are the rhythm of the heartbeat.
Magic touch of pen has enriched the literature
Each word sprung out of your blood cell-
Is the ‘golden dowry’ (Sonali Kabin)
Sown in every layer of thought- you have
Grown the saplings of patriotism,
On the fertile motherland that is wide arable soil
Crops of poetic verses- like an unending horizon.
At times, it is ‘Bakhtiar’s horse’ (Hero’s stallion)
Decorated with ornaments and icons.
You are unfading and everlasting
Icon of justice- you are poet,
Your brain is fertile land for poetry cultivation.
Spiritual poet in the eternity- you are
Rays that cut away night’s darkness
Sweet smell of perfume and incense,
Walking along the narrow island
Poet of eternity, you are – Al Mahmud.
